About West Akron Kiwanis

Since 1948, the West Akron Kiwanis Club has met faithfully to change the world and the children of our community.  Our distinguished members participate in many activities, such as reading programs at local schools, supporting different nonprofits that benefit children in our area and beyond, and many other programs that impact our community.

About Kiwanis International

Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International is a global organization of clubs and members dedicated to serving the children of the world and developing youth leaders. Kiwanis and its family of clubs, including Circle K International for university students, Key Club for students age 14—18, Builders Club for students age 11—14, Kiwanis Kids for students age 6—12 and Aktion Club for adults living with disabilities, dedicate annually more than 18 million service hours to strengthen communities and serve children. The Kiwanis International family comprises nearly 600,000 adult and youth members in 80 countries and geographic areas. West Akron Kiwanis 2011-2012 Goals:

1.  Goal- Service- Increase funds raised to help children by 5 percent.
      Plan- Implement process of continual improvement with service projects and find more ways to market them to the community.

2.  Goal-Membership- Goal of 5 new members and 75 percent retention of current members.
      Plan- Find ways to get members more involved in the club; make meetings more engaging to them and more valuable to the club; education of new members.

3. Goal- Operating Account- Find new ways to generate revenue for the operation of our club.
     Plan – Find ways to get members more involved in the club; make meetings more engaging to them and more valuable to the club; education of new members.

4. Goal- Committees- Through committees, find ways to help the club run more smoothly and effectively.
     Plan- Develop an increased number of committees.

5. Goal- Club Marketing & Communication- Find the best ways to communicate with our members and potential members.
     Plan- Form a number of committees to work on this from several different angles.

Ultimate Goal - Become a Distinguished Kiwanis Club for the 2011-2012 year.
